National Council
National President
Paul Kittle, Mu Pi ’91, has served on the National Council for the past six years. For the past four years, Paul served as National Vice President, dealing with chapter standards and overseeing National committees. Paul is the Director of Greek Life at Auburn University, one of the largest Greek communities in the South. Brother Kittle currently lives in Opelika, Alabama with his wife, Denise, and their three boys.
National Vice President
Will Foran, Mu Theta ’00, joined the National Council shortly after his graduation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served as National Secretary. While chapter president, the chapter won the Outstanding Chapter Award and was known on-campus for strong academics and community service. Brother Foran lives in Macomb, Illinois where he works as the Assistant Director of Student Activities at Western Illinois University.
National Treasurer
Michael Mallon, Mu Epsilon ’95, joined the National Council ten years ago. He has spent a majority of that time as the National Treasurer and has ably guided the Fraternity through its many financial challenges. Michael lives with his wife, Jennifer, and his daughter, Mackenzie, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
National Secretary
David Smittle, Mu Beta ’84, has served on the National Council since 1985, when he was asked to fill an unexpected vacancy on the Board. Since then, Brother Smittle has served as National President, Director of Expansion, Editor, and was National Secretary for ten years. David has worked in the Development Office at Ohio Northern University for over 20 years and is currently the Director of Advancement Services at his alma mater. He lives with his wife, Kim, and their three children in Ada, Ohio.
National Past-President
James Murphy, Nu Omicron ’74, is the longest serving member of the National Council. Jim joined the National Council in 1980. In his twenty-six years on the Council he has held the positions of National President and National Vice President. Brother Murphy can be found teaching music at St. Joseph’s School in Keene, New Hampshire. Jim lives with his wife, Candy, in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. They have two grown sons.
Member-at-Large
Richard F. Albarano, Jr., Mu Pi ’89, is the newest member of the National Council. Richard hails from Atlanta, Georgia where he works as a teacher in the DeKalbCounty school system. Brother Albarano was recruited to the Council by fellow chapter brother, Paul Kittle and is looking forward to working with Phi Mu Delta alumni. He lives with his wife, Toni, in Atlanta.
Member-at-Large
Kevin Socha, Mu Iota ’05, joined the National Council after serving as Undergraduate Representative. As chapter president at Lycoming College, Kevin was instrumental in re-organizing the chapter and setting basic expectations for membership. Kevin currently lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania and works as an actuarial analyst for ING. In addition, Kevin is very involved with the Chester County Habitat for Humanity.
Executive Director (Ex Officio)
Thomas Murphy, Mu Alpha ’94, recently served as the National President. Over the past ten years, he served the National Council as National Vice President and worked on expansion and new member education projects. Tom lives in Cherry Hill, New Jersey with his wife, Elizabeth.
Undergraduate Representative
Jose Lugo, Nu Omicron ’07, currently serves as the president of the Nu Omicron Chapter at Keene State College. He has previously held the position of vice president. Jose will be working with the chapters in our New England region, as well as working on several committees.
Undergraduate Representative
Stanton Sollenberger, Mu Epsilon ’08, was the proud recipient of the 2006 Robert C. Lomison Outstanding Undergraduate Member Award. He currently serves as the president of Mu Epsilon and has worked tirelessly over the past year to strengthen the chapter and build a foundation for success in the future. Stan will be working with chapters in our Mid-Atlantic region.
Regional Director
David C. Smeal, Mu Zeta ’89, has served on the National Council since 2000. He will be transitioning into the Regional Director role with responsibilities for our Mid-Atlantic region. Dave lives in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania.
