Nomination Committee Invites Applications for 4-Year Board Term

The Phi Mu Delta Fraternity is currently accepting applications from qualified alumni interested in serving on the organization's National Council. The Council provides strategic guidance and exemplifies the highest levels of volunteerism within the fraternity.

The Nomination Committee is tasked with seeking out nominations and developing a slate of four candidates to stand for approval at the upcoming Conclave, scheduled for July 31 - August 3, 2024. Chosen candidates will join existing National Council members for a four-year term.

"We are looking for passionate Phi Mu Delta brothers from all backgrounds and experiences to step up and lead at the national level," said Teague Emery, Nomination Committee member and Mu Alpha '13 alumnus. "Historical volunteer experience is not required, as we value adding diverse perspectives to our leadership ranks."

Ideal candidates should embody the following key leadership behaviors prioritized by the fraternity:

Put Phi Mu Delta Thinking First
Seek and Provide Coaching and Feedback
Make Collaboration Essential
Communicate Frequently, Candidly, and Clearly

Alumni can submit their application for National Council consideration through the deadline of Friday, May 3, 2024. The Nomination Committee will review all applicants, conduct interviews in May, and finalize the candidate slate by early June.

"Serving on the National Council is a chance to uphold the values put forth in our Founders Creed by sacrificing your time and talents for the greater good of Phi Mu Delta," added Sam Waltemeyer, Phi Mu Delta's Executive Director and former National Council board member. Exemplifying their commitment to serving those in need, the Mu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity at Robert Morris University recently dedicated their efforts to supporting a local food pantry. On April 4th, 2024, brothers from the chapter volunteered their time to aid in the distribution of food donations to individuals and families facing food insecurity.

"Food insecurity is a major issue in the United States and all over the world," said Trey Reichenfeld, Vice President of Membership Development for the Mu Upsilon Chapter. "It's important that every person and every family has access to healthy and clean food options. We're happy to play a small role in helping distribute food to these people in need."

Phi Mu Delta's Mu Sigma Chapter Rallies for Pediatric Cancer Support at Rutgers University Dance Marathon

Demonstrating their unwavering commitment to community service and philanthropy, the Mu Sigma Chapter of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity at Rutgers University played a vital role in the institution's annual Dance Marathon (RUDM) on April 6th, 2024. RUDM, the largest student-run philanthropic event in New Jersey, aims to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer and blood disorders, with all proceeds benefiting the Embrace Kids Foundation.

Since its inception in 1999, RUDM has raised over $10 million for the Embrace Kids Foundation, providing critical emotional and financial support to countless families in the tri-state area facing the challenges of pediatric cancer. This year's event was a resounding success, raising an impressive $560,045.49, with the Mu Sigma Chapter contributing $2,340 to the cause.

"The money raised has helped countless families in the tri-state area cope with the numerous challenges of pediatric cancer," said Cam Jacoby, Vice President of Membership for the Mu Sigma Chapter. "All the money RUDM raises goes directly to Embrace Kids Foundation and helps support the non-medical needs of children with blood disorders and cancer."

The brothers of Phi Mu Delta played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the event, with volunteers serving as event staff, working at tables for organizations like The Gift of Life Registry, and participating as dancers themselves. In a powerful display of their commitment to democratic participation and civic engagement, the Mu Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity at Susquehanna University recently hosted a successful voter registration drive. On March 27th, 2024, the fraternity brothers set up an interactive booth in the university's dining hall, providing physical voter registration forms and QR codes for the Rock the Vote initiative.

"We interacted with about 25 individuals on our campus, giving them physical forms or assisting them in filling out online registrations," said Nathan McCue, Vice President of Membership Development for the Mu Alpha Chapter. "While many students were already registered voters, we had the opportunity to engage with numerous individuals and encourage their democratic involvement."

The voter registration effort garnered praise from multiple professors, who commended the fraternity for its important civic work. This initiative serves as a powerful embodiment of Phi Mu Delta's founding principles of democracy, brotherhood, and service to others.

On Easter Sunday, March 31st, 2024, a group of fraternity brothers took time out of their holiday to contribute to the preservation of this local landmark.

"Brothers were able to go on a hike, while also cleaning up a local landmark," said Savi Roth, Vice President of Membership for the Mu Omicron Chapter. "The brothers ended up filling multiple trash bags, leaving the trail cleaner than they found it."

"While many students were already registered voters, we were able to assist six individuals in completing the voter registration process."

TEMPLE UNiversity Phi Mu Delta and Alpha Xi Delta Host Successful Community Impact Event

The Temple University chapters of Phi Mu Delta fraternity and Alpha Xi Delta sorority recently joined forces for a unique event that blended tasty treats with an important civic cause. On April 8th, the two Greek organizations hosted a combination bake sale and voter registration drive on campus.

The primary beneficiary was the Kindly Hearts Foundation, a local non-profit dedicated to aiding unhoused youth in the Philadelphia area. A selection of homemade baked goods were sold by members of both chapters, with all proceeds being donated directly to the charity.

"We wanted to find a fun way to raise money for a great cause like Kindly Hearts, while also promoting civic engagement among Temple's student body," said Louis DiPede, President of Phi Mu Delta's Temple Chapter. "Giving people an opportunity to register to vote while enjoying some delicious baked goods was the perfect way to accomplish both goals."

In addition to the bake sale, students were able to check their voter registration status and sign up to vote at the event. Members of Phi Mu Delta and Alpha Xi Delta were on hand to assist with the non-partisan voter registration process.

The event also supported the fraternity's ongoing canned food drive, with attendees encouraged to donate non-perishable items to be distributed to those in need throughout the community.
"The impact of this project highlighted the intersection of different oppressions, namely voter suppression and homelessness," stated DiPede. "By working together, we were able to tackle two issues at once and remind people why it's so important to be civically engaged and continue fighting inequality on multiple levels."

Both Phi Mu Delta and Alpha Xi Delta have a long-standing tradition of philanthropy and community service. The bake sale voter registration drive embodied these values by raising funds for a worthwhile cause, boosting civic participation, and collecting food donations - all in one successful event.

Phi Mu Delta Susquehanna Brothers Bond Over Baffle-Busting Bash

When it comes to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, the Mu Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu Delta at Susquehanna University knows how to bring the fun and games! On March 22, 2024, 50 brothers participated in an epic lock-in style retreat that left them feeling closer than ever.

The annual "Brotherhood Lock-In" event, masterfully orchestrated by the chapter's Vice President of Membership, Benjamin Horning, was a non-stop thrill ride of good times and great company. The night started with a heartwarming round of sharing the best moments from each brother's week. From acing that brutal exam to landing an internship, the tales reminded everyone that behind the Phi Mu Delta t-shirt beats a heart of gold.

But this was just the warmup act! The real fun began when the brotherhood split into three teams for an electrifying game of Jeopardy...with a twist! Instead of boring old trivia questions, the clues were all about the brothers themselves.

After battering their wits, it was time to put their bodies to the test with two epic games of hide and seek that turned the entire house into a sprawling playground.

When the dust settled, every brother emerged with a smile plastered across his face and a heart filled with joy. As Horning put it, "The impact had on the organization was it allowed all of the brothers to come together in one space and play games and have a good time together. Also, it allowed our new-members to experience a giant brotherhood event that involved all of the chapter. Overall, it allowed all of us to have fun together and de-stress from a long week of school work."
