The Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree is a highly anticipated gathering that takes place every four years and brings together thousands of Boy Scouts from across the country. Hosted by the national organization of the Boy Scouts of America, this event provides an opportunity for Scouts to engage in various activities and forge lasting connections with fellow Scouts. This year over 15,000 Scouts attended the event. “I not noticed on LinkedIn when we were preparing for the Jamboree that we were both Phi Mu Delta brothers, so we had an instant connection thanks to LinkedIn that we both had this in common, so we connected to each other before the Jamboree which led to us bringing our letters. Also, wanted I found out that Chris and I are both Eagle Scouts!” Shared Chris Melillo, a member of the Mu Psi provisional chapter. “ Working for the Jamboree social media team was a very unique experience. During the event we aimed to tell every story the Jamboree had. We had an awesome time getting to know Scouts and volunteers, and creatively telling their stories. I am glad to have exercised these communications skills, and look to bring them into my professional career.” Similarly, Nick Scarmozzino, from the Mu Alpha chapter at Susquehanna University, shared his thoughts on the Jamboree: "As part of the National Jamboree communications team within web design, I learned the importance of detailed preparation because being organized made communication for this large event successful. Having this extraordinary opportunity to learn about web development, social media and marketing, I look forward to bringing back these new skills to my Susquehanna Chapter while creating new opportunities for our chapter and our alumni!" A native of Prince Edward County, Cainan Townsend is a graduate of Prince Edward County Public Schools. He first became involved with the Robert Russa Moton Museum as a volunteer, demonstrating an unwavering passion for preserving the rich history of this institution. Townsend's commitment and determination quickly propelled him from volunteer to intern, and subsequently to part-time staff. His profound knowledge and innovative approach eventually led to his appointment as the Director of Education. I have had the privilege of delving deep into the history of this iconic landmark and witnessing firsthand the impact it has on our community." Furthermore, his great aunts, Mildred and Arlene, actively participated in the 1951 student walkout and subsequently served as Brown plaintiffs.
