Phi Mu Delta Honors Henry Souto with Charles S. Rising Outstanding Chapter President Award8/13/2024
Phi Mu Delta Fraternity is proud to announce Henry Souto as the recipient of the prestigious Charles S. Rising Outstanding Chapter President Award. This honor, announced at the 61st Conclave in Providence, RI, recognizes Souto's exceptional leadership and contributions as the immediate past Chapter President of the Mu Sigma Chapter at Rutgers University - New Brunswick.
Named after Phi Mu Delta's first National President, the Charles S. Rising Award celebrates chapter presidents who embody the leadership qualities that laid the foundation for the fraternity's 106 years of success. Henry Souto, a 2024 graduate of Rutgers University, led the Mu Sigma Chapter through a period of unprecedented growth and resilience. Under his leadership, the chapter expanded from single digits to over 40 members, marking a remarkable 350% increase in brotherhood size. "Henry not only saved our chapter from low recruitment and growth during the pandemic but led it during its most prominent period of growth, building it into one of the largest chapters nationally," his nominators wrote. "Most of us wouldn't be here without him, and the chapter may not either." Souto's tenure as Chapter President was marked by numerous achievements:
Beyond his role in the fraternity, Souto demonstrated his commitment to service by tutoring at New Brunswick High School, teaching student leadership and team-building skills. "Henry remains one of few people who treat everyone with respect while truly remaining humble," his nominators added. "He recognizes those who go above and beyond while teaching and helping others learn to find respect, brotherhood, personal maturity, and growth through the values and common decency this fraternity promotes." Souto's leadership style, characterized by respect, humility, and a focus on personal growth, has set a new standard for chapter leadership within Phi Mu Delta. His ability to navigate challenges, resolve conflicts, and foster a supportive brotherhood environment exemplifies the qualities celebrated by the Charles S. Rising Award. "Henry Souto's leadership has been transformative for the Mu Sigma Chapter," said Sam Waltemeyer, Phi Mu Delta's Executive Director "His dedication to growth, inclusivity, and maintaining the highest standards of fraternity life embodies the spirit of Charles S. Rising and the values of Phi Mu Delta. We're honored to recognize his outstanding contributions with this award." Comments are closed.
