The Phi Mu Delta Chapter at the Pennsylvania College of Technology recently organized an event on March 12 with a mission to aid scientists in advancing the development of new therapeutics for various diseases through the simulation of protein dynamics.

According to Chapter President Jared Patten, "This event was aimed at promoting the Folding@Home initiative, which assists the medical industry in understanding the mechanisms behind diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's through protein folding. Folding@Home is software designed to utilize a portion of your computer's hardware for running protein folding simulations."

Folding@Home is a pioneering software that harnesses the computational power of volunteers' computers to conduct protein folding simulations, offering invaluable support to the medical industry in understanding disease pathways.

Phi Mu Delta Chapter's initiative aligns closely with their overarching vision, which is "To redefine fraternity through cultivating and curating a culture of lifelong civic engagement and fellowship." By championing causes that prioritize community welfare and scientific innovation, the chapter underscores its commitment to fostering a supportive environment for members to engage in meaningful societal contributions. Through collaborative endeavors such as these, the Phi Mu Delta Chapter aims to inspire a culture of proactive involvement in initiatives that have tangible, positive impacts on society.

Moving forward, the Phi Mu Delta Chapter remains dedicated to advocating for the advancement of scientific research and promoting altruistic endeavors that resonate with their core values of service, fellowship, and continuous learning.
