The Phi Mu Delta Fraternity is thrilled to introduce a new program designed to empower chapter leaders in their journey towards future professional success. By delving into the intersection between their academic pursuits and their extracurricular leadership roles, participants will refine their transferable skills sought by employers. The PhiGROW program, adapted from the renowned research project at the University of Iowa, promises to be a high-impact educational intervention featuring guided reflections and a comprehensive survey.
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), college students should highlight essential skills they have gained from their various experiences on their resumes to attract the attention of potential employers. NACE's Job Outlook 2023 survey shows that more than 60% of employers seek evidence of a candidate's problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills. "The key then is for students to not only develop these competencies, but also to be able to articulate how they use them in their classwork, experiential education, student organization activities, and more," says Shawn VanDerziel, NACE executive director. Phi Mu Delta understands the importance of providing a fraternity experience that instills high personal standards, both morally and intellectually. By implementing the PhiGROW program, the fraternity aims to equip its members with a unique opportunity to cultivate leadership, foster personal growth, and excel in their chosen future career paths. Joe Thompson, National President of Phi Mu Delta, expressed his excitement about the new initiative, stating, "We are thrilled to offer the PhiGROW program to our chapter leaders. We want Phi Mu Delta to foster an environment where dreams flourish and ambitions turn into tangible successes. This innovative program will help them embrace the special synergy between their classroom learning and their leadership involvement, thereby enhancing their professional development." The PhiGROW program will be available to all Phi Mu Delta members who hold leadership positions within their respective chapters. Through two carefully guided reflections and a concise survey, participants will explore the valuable transferable skills they acquire through their fraternity experiences. "This program aims to redefine fraternity by cultivating a culture of lifelong civic engagement and fellowship," said Sam Waltemeyer, Executive Director of Phi Mu Delta. "Our mission goes beyond the traditional notions of brotherhood. We want to empower our members to not only excel academically but also become active contributors and leaders of society.” The PhiGROW program is an excellent initiative that aligns with Phi Mu Delta's commitment to fostering personal growth, noble ideals, and a sense of service. It serves as a testament to the fraternity's dedication to providing a dynamic and holistic experience for its members. All Phi Mu Delta chapter leaders are encouraged to participate in this groundbreaking program, seizing the opportunity to refine their leadership skills, gain insights into their personal growth, and explore the diverse facets of their fraternal involvement.
