The Mu Omicron Chapter of Phi Mu Delta Receives Frostburg State University's Chapter Excellence Award

​Frostburg, MD,  August 30, 2023 - At Frostburg State University's Stars of Excellence Award Ceremony, the Mu Omicron Chapter of Phi Mu Delta was honored to receive the university's prestigious Chapter Excellence Award. 

The Stars of Excellence Awards, established in 2007, are based on national standards and university expectations for each chapter, covering intellectual and social development, risk management, scholarship, community service, and more. 

One individual who has played a significant role in Phi Mu Delta's success is Alonso Miguel, a senior from Hagerstown, Maryland. He serves as the chapter's Vice President of Administration and credits the award to the member's dedication to organization,  communication, and coordination.

Celebrated at the ceremony, Alonso was elected for a second term as the Fraternity & Sorority Life Council's President. In this leadership position, he will diligently represent the interests of all officially recognized fraternities and sororities at Frostburg State University.

During his first term, Alonso Miguel prioritized building connections and positive relationships between various fraternities and sororities. Looking ahead to his second term, Alonso has set new goals to promote the visibility of the fraternity and sorority community and establish positive relations with the University's president's office.

In response to his recent recognition, Alonso Miguel humbly stated, "I'm honored to be given the opportunity, and trust of the other chapters, to lead our community for another year."

Founded in 2009, the Mu Omicron Chapter of Phi Mu Delta has become known for its commitment to redefining fraternity and takes immense pride in its accomplishments. With a remarkable retention rate of 93% and an impressive graduation rate of 95%, the chapter continues to be a positive force at Frostburg State University.
